My good friend Travis and his buddy Ben are on a roadtrip across the country. Ben is visitng Travis for 2 weeks from the UK, and I managed to talk them into stopping in for the weekend to visit...lucky us!

Roommate Anthony and I loaded up in the van with them, along with our friend Leah and her friend (now our new favorite friend with a hard to remember name) STAVROS, and we headed to the Frozen Dead Guy Days Festival in the mountain town of Nederland, CO.
An explaination I found online about Frozen Dead Guy Days:
In 1989, grandpa Bredo, from Norway, wasn't doing so well, and his grandson Trygve didn't want to lose him. One thing led to another, and he wound up frozen, shipped to L.A. for some high-tech packaging, and then shipped up to Nederland where he was stored in his daughter's shed. Or so the story goes. When she didn't finish building her house and was still living in it, the town tried to make her move out - but that's when the question of frozen grandpa Bredo came up. I'm sure that was a town meeting I would have loved to attend! The rest of the story is on the web, but to make a long story short, a radio station and various other individuals and companies have helped out, and grandpa is still doing fine - fine as he can be, anyway, until they find a way to re-animate him.
In the mean time, Nederland likes to throw a party in his honor each year. The festival features polar bear plunge (which we missed by about 30 seconds), a slow motion parade, really great bluegrass music, locally brewed beers, coffin races (teams of 6 or so racing through obstacle courses while carrying a friend in a homemade coffin), and REALLY great people.
So yea, there really is a frozen guy in a tuff shed (which we unfortunately did not find time to go see the shed...) in Nederland, CO....and we went to celebrate....
